July 24 - August 10, 2019
The Arizona Debate Institute is the nation’s largest and longest running college policy summer institute. 2019 marks the 42nd Anniversary of its founding.
The ADI is run by the ASU Forensics Team, a division of the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication.
The structure of this year’s institute will be divided into two segments. The first half the institute will take place in person in Tempe between July 30-August 6.
The online sessions will be held on August 1-10.
During the online segment of the institute, ADI will provide lectures, conduct and review research assignments, and engage students through question and answer sessions. Lectures will be recorded and uploaded behind a firewall for students to review as they have time.
The in-person segment of the Institute will be held on the Tempe campus and will be dedicated to practice debates, rebuttal re-dos, block-writing, and the tournament. Every student will receive at least 10 debates between the practices and the tournament.
