HDSHC Tutoring Hub
The Hugh Downs School of Human Communication offers one-on-one tutoring, group tutoring, and academic coaching for COM classes.
Tutoring is available during the Fall and Spring semesters to support students in their core communication courses.
Dr. Brianna L. Avalos (she/her) provides one-on-one and group tutoring for students enrolled in COM courses. COM 100, COM 207, COM 225, COM 308, COM 407 and COM 408.
Office hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1:30–3:30 p.m. in STAUF A215. In-person and Zoom appointments are available.
She offers guidance in the following areas:
- Selecting topics and preparing outlines for speeches
- Applying communication-based theories and methodologies
- Navigating APA style issues
- Conducting literature reviews
- Using SPSS for quantitative analysis
- Coding, thematizing, and analyzing qualitative data
