Undergraduate Student Research

The Hugh Downs School of Human Communication undergraduate student research experience places both in-person and online undergraduate students into research assistant opportunities working with individual faculty members on their research projects.

Students will enroll in COM 404: Research Apprenticeship and earn 3 credits. 

All students in good academic standing are invited to apply (minimum GPA 2.0). 

This course explores the methods and practice of communication research.  You will work with a faculty member on research-oriented tasks over the course of the semester.  

Students in this class will obtain experience in the new data-driven landscape, by collecting and analyzing data, and learning how to present the findings.

**Undergraduate Research Experience can only count as elective credit within the major and cannot substitute for required courses. If you have already fulfilled all of your major electives, the course will only count as general elective credit. If your major is not in SHPRS, please consult with your major advisor.
